When the clients moved from a 2 bedroom, 1200 sq foot condo to an 800 sq ft home in order to gain garden space, they knew an addition would be required. The entire house footprint was redesigned, and the former laundry room was taken over into the kitchen.
The small but mighty kitchen, with bold graphic finishes and custom angled doors packed a lot of punch. Integrated appliances with panels made the small space feel larger. The angled waterfall gable on the end of the peninsula provided easy cleaning for the avid gardeners, while allowing room for feet to travel in a small space.
Inefficient closets were re-imagined with cabinetry to maximize coat storage and provide a graphic bench seat in black oak finish.
Custom wardrobe units with lower drawers and hanging rods behind the doors create practicality, while open storage was the perfect place for the homeowner's book collection.
Removing the laundry room to increase the size of the kitchen required innovative thinking. Custom doors and cabinetry with roll out shelves for cleaning supplies were retrofit into the former hall linen closets to maximize every inch of storage.
